CMA in South Africa

The first meeting of CMA in South Africa took place online on 11 May 2021. 

The Crystal Clear Cape Town meeting was started by a group of recovering addicts who identified a need for a space where crystal meth addicts could share openly about their struggles, as well as their experience and hope. On 3 January 2022, the first Rise Like a Phoenix Johannesburg meeting started online. Both of these meetings draw members both locally and internationally and have established a core fellowship of CMA in the country.  

Crystal meth (or tik, as it is locally known) has thrown many local communities into a state of chaos. Sadly, many of these communities have fallen out of the reach of recovery. Our hope, as CMA South Africa, is to reach these communities and carry the message of recovery to the many addicts who still suffer. 

Our first face-to-face meeting took place on the 17 September 2022.
